Unity Gardens’ primary source of funding comes from an annual grant from the Anne Arundel County Forestry Division. As a recipient of a portion of the “fee-in-lieu” monies collected, we are proud of our long-term partnership to help remedy the environmental costs of continued development.
To supplement our AACo funding, Unity Gardens also pursues other environmental grants, enjoys the generosity of individual/philanthropic donors and hosts a fundraising lecture annually. Since 2012 our annual spring speaker series has enabled us to offer additional grants (including to Annapolis City based organizations) and to provide educational materials and programs. Event ticket sales, sponsorships and a day-of raffle all contribute to the success of this annual event.
Our 2027 event is tentatively scheduled for March 13, 2027 featuring the University of Maryland Extensions’ Native Plants and Landscapes Specialist Lisa Kuder who will cover topics related to the Maryland Coastal Plains Region Native Plant Guidebook (to be released in late 2026). Please consider sponsoring this exciting event!

Our 2026 Annual Spring Lecture Series was held on March 14, 2026. Alison Milligan – a Watershed Steward, Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and Certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) – presented her talk “Gardening with Native Plants: One Square Yard at a Time.” We are grateful to our many attendees and the generosity of our local business community which allowed us to meet our 2026 event fundraising goal.
While 2026’s event is now past, we are seeking sponsors for our 2027 event. The graphics below provide the sponsorship details for our 2026 event and illustrate the levels and benefits that will also be available for our 2027 event sponsors. If you would like to be included in our list of sponsors for next year – it’s never too early to sign up by clicking on the link below!
